Requirements
Audio Video IFilter requires Windows 2000 or higher and Windows Media Player 7.1
or higher.
Windows 2000 comes with Media Player 6.4 so you should install a newer player.
We recommend the Windows Media Player 9.0

Windows XP comes with Media Player 8.0 so a newer player installation is not
required. But we recommend Windows Media Player 9.0 or 10.0.
Installation instructions
Before the installation run
the Computer Management console and stop Microsoft Indexing Service if it is running.
Then run the setup program to start the installation procedure and follow
instructions displayed on your screen.
During the installation you will be asked for three registration options:
Non-commercial use, 30-day trial, Commercial use. If you are going to use Audio Video IFilter
for non-commercial purposes at home or in non-profit organizations
choose the first option. In other cases choose the 30-day trial option or the
Commercial use option if you have already bought a license.
If you initially installed the program with the 30-day trial option and
then decided to use it further you should
Buy a license and
reinstall the program with the Commercial use option.
To use the IFilter with Microsoft Indexing Service: After the installation start
Indexing Service and perform the full
rescan of directories for which you want to update the index of existing
media files.
If you use Windows Desktop Search right-click on the Windows Desktop Search
tray icon. Click Desktop Search Options. Go to the Indexing tab and click Rebuild
Index.
If you use Microsoft SharePoint Portal you should add WMA, WMV and MP3 to the file types listed in
Search and Indexing Configuration.
Uninstallation
Before Audio Video IFilter uninstallation stop the search services you are using. Then
go to Control Panel Add Remove Programs, select Audio Video IFilter in the
Change or Remove Programs list and click Remove.
